Somewhere in between Ipswich and Brighton?

Hi everyone,

We're travelling from Ipswich to Brighton in the summer holidays and would like to stop off somewhere for 3 nights on our way back.

Any ideas?

We have 5yo and 3yo dds and will be on a tight budget.

Canterbury?

It's only a 2.5 hour drive, why such a long break in the journey? Just out of interest.

But Lullingstone castle/roman villa & park have a decent amount of interesting stuff to do in the right sort of area.
