weekend break - max 2 hours from London

Hi,

I'm looking for a weekend break with DH. It has to be 1-2 hours from London.

Thinking of maybe bath, Bristol, Cotswolds, but not really sure. Any ideas?

I thought Newbury was rather nice. Plenty of restaurants, shops, cinema and lively walk by the canal.

Plenty to see in area like highclere/ downtown abbey.

Salisbury is only about 2 hours. Lovely, lively city, but quaint too.

Doesn't get overly busy.
