I'm thinking of going away for a weekend to celebrate a significant birthday, with DH and 2 DC (6 and 3).

We've been to a couple of hotels from the LFH chain (e.g. Woolley Grange) so fancy trying somewhere else this time. It would only be for 2 nights do can afford to splash out but it must have good childcare, e.g. 2 hr kids club each day or similar, plus the option for us to eat without the kids in the evening.

Am considering Babbington House, Cowley Manor, Calcot Manor... does anyone have any experience of these or any other good ideas? Ideally looking for somewhere less than 3 hrs from London.
Thanks!!

Creif Hydro is more than three hours away but sounds like it would work for you!

Could be 3hrs if you fly then hire a car.

Babbington house is wonderful..for you. Not so much for the kids.

I have always managed to leave them behind every time we have visited Wink

Chewton Glen would be a great choice. I haven't stayed in one but the treehouse rooms look amazing.
It's a grown up hotel that also caters for families too.

It's the edge of the New Forest, with the beach on the doorstep. About 2 hours from Lindon.

Good point re Babbington - maybe I'll save that for a time without the children!

Has anyone stayed in Chewton Glen with children? I can't find any info on a crèche etc on their website.

Can't link but if you go on the website there's a 'families' tab

Have done calcot manor was very good
But if you can go somewhere grown up and not take the kids that would be my preferred option!

I stayed at Moonfleet Manor in Dorset a few years ago, but not with children! That may be worth a look?

The Elms in Worcestershire was really good. Not sure about the dinner arrangement you are looking for. You could ring and check.

Carlyon Bay in Devon was superb too!

We all loved Calcot and would love to go again

Babington I would prefer to go without children

Thanks - I was on the mobile version of the Chewton Glen website which didn't have the family big showing! Have found it now.
Will also check out Calcot.

We went to the four seasons in Hampshire just before Christmas, very child friendly, good kids club, nice food, warm pool. Altogether excellent (although v. pricey).

I've looked at the ickworth in Bury St Edmund before and would love to justify spending that much! go there. Enjoy!
