A week in a caravan with 15yo dd. Where to go next summer? General area?

Ive told her she can research and decide but she's not doing much.

Picking a suitable location where a teenager will be kept entertained is increasingly difficult. We go to London fairly often but tend to keep this for a non-summer holiday.

I was thinking maybe Cornwall? Devon? Isle of Wight?

I'm slightly put off by the distance (from Midlands) with bad queues on m5 but we could maybe go mid week to mid week. Or even for ten days.

She likes shopping, is happy to do the odd walk or bike ride, even looking round gardens. I have visions of us having surf lessons. But need somewhere with exciting tourist attractions, especially if it rains.

school holidays will be impossible to find mid week to mid week as everyone does Friday or Saturday changing days unless you are prepared to pay more. what about an activity holiday? what about staying in a few different places. Bath, Bristol Cornwall sort of idea staying in travelodges and doing stuff. we have had some fab short breaks in these places.

Sorry, we have our own tourer caravan. I can book mid week to mid week in Caravan Club caravan sites. So don't want an activity type holiday as we already have our accommodation, just need to decide where to take it.

I went to Devon this year near Bideford. About an hour and a half to the Eden project, fantastic surf lessons at westward ho beach, really fun archery place, horseriding at Woolacombe. Good TIME!

I took a 15 & 16 yr old to Northumberland in a tourer this summer. The beach at Beadnell Bay had a surf centre on it, which we didn't actually use as we had wetsuits and bodyboards with us (ours spent a good deal of time doing flips off the dock too!). We did notice that they ran coasteering trips from there too though, and sea kayaking.

There are castles; we had a fantastic dinner in a tree house at Alnwick Castle! We did a couple of wonderful coastal walks back to Beadnell after getting on buses to other towns (with the dogs). It was a great holiday... so much so, we're going back in the next half term .

Ive had a shit holiday in Woolacombe in the past and another in Northumberland.

Both im sure due to monsoon type weather, in August! Northumberland especially didn't have a lot of wet weather type stuff to do.

Maybe we ought to go to Spain.

Tenby is nice - lots to do too.

We like Mawgan Porth in Cornwall. There is a lovely beach where you can have surf lessons. It's close to Newquay and Padstow. There is loads to do in the area.

I used to live in Tenby. Not sure I want to go back for a holiday.

I might Google Tenby actually. See what there is to do in the area now. My main activity when I lived there was getting leathered every night in Tenby House.

Was going to mention Tenby myself.

Croyde is full of teenagers, as is Polzeath.

Fantastic campsite - tents, motor homes & caravans in Treen, Cornwall (v near Lands End). Loads to do e.g. Minack Theatre, surfing, coastal walks. Lots of beautiful beaches within walking distance.

What about north Wales. Just had 4 nights at havens hafan y mor and it's a superb site and takes tourers.
