Hi, I'm looking for a recommendation for a hotel in Brighton. Can anyone recommend one? A 4-5 star with some spa facilities and lovely comfy beds. Thanks

I go to Brighton a lot and would definitely recommend the courtlands hotel in kemptown - just the loveliest place, with gorgeous hosts who do a wicked breakfast - kemptown is definitely the best place to stay, near the pier, shops, cool bars and restaurants etc......

rabbitwoman · 09/08/2015 10:18

Oh, it's not a hotel, by the way, it's a b&b - I think all the hotels are quite central, and not as 'fun', but that's just me ......

The grand

Second looking at The Grand Hotel - was browsing their website myself this morning; on my must-go-to list now.

I have always liked staying at Drakes. It's on the seafront and I love their inhouse restaurant. Very comfy beds too, but can't remember if they have a spa.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 09/08/2015 13:41

Drakes is lovely but doesn't have a spa. You could always stay there then book some treatments at the treatment rooms.

Thanks everyone! I would prefer a larger hotel because I plan to be there on my own.

We stayed at the Grand recently. DH went to the Spa and said it was one of the nicest he has ever been in.

NeedSpeed · 10/08/2015 00:14

Thanks! I think I'll go with the grand.does anyone know how far it is from chain hotels like wagamama and pizza express?

It isn't too far from all the main restaurants and shops.

Thanks cashew

Op do you mind if I ask about nice B&B's too?

There appears to be a zizzi and pizza express along at the marina (DD told me this as she lives in Brighton) but that is quite a way from the Grand. There are still plenty places to eat nearby though.

RockinHippy · 10/08/2015 13:36

The Marina is a very long walk from the Grand - probably over a couple of miles, though it's definitely worth a visit if you are here.

That said everything else is a very short walk from the Grand & lots of good eatieries nearby - the Grands own restaurant is favourite with locals & do a fantastic Sunday Roast at a reasonable price. Riddle & Finns on the seafront comes highly recommended, (avoid the lanes one though) but do book & the same goes for Casa del Carlos for the best tapas in town.

Check Airbnb for cheap & good b&bs How

Be careful booking Kemptown though, it covers a wide area & the other end is a long walk from everything

It wouldn't fit the OP's brief but DH and I have just spent a couple of days at Blanch House, lovely boutique style place in Kemptown.
