Cheap business hotels convenient for City of London

DH may have to travel to London tomorrow on an unexpected trip. He will be on an incredibly stingy per diem and will have to pay accommodation costs out of that.

Do any of you have suggestions for a good place to stay that won't break the bank and has good links to the City?

The per diem is $300.

Thanks for the suggestions KenDodd. They were fully booked but will definitely try to use Club Quarters next time.

In the end he found a good deal at the Rosewood in Holborn, which seems good for transport links.
