We'd like to go self catering in Cornwall later this summer but have never been there before - which towns are best?
We would love something coastal with good walks, and a central location but not too busy.
Mevagissey and Fowey have been recommended, has anyone been to these before? Thanks!

St mawes is lovely. Ferry to Falmouth and surrounded by beautiful countryside and beaches.

We used to go further west, Treen, and Porthcurno that has the famous Minack Theatre, and they are right on the coast with cliff walks to Lands End. Porthgwarra has a 'cave' that was in the opening titles of the recent "Poldark". A bit inland is the village of St Buryan. Penzance is the nearest town, overlooking St Michaels Mount.

Also one year we went to Boscastle, not far from Tintagel, that has King Arthur connections.

You can 'tour' all these places on Google Street View. which now runs much faster than it used to, and is easier to navigate.

if you are looking for school summer holidays then you need to get a move on because cornwall is very popular and the gove changes to holidays in term time means places booking up even earlier than last year. we love Looe. quieter than the north coast and easier to get to along the A38 avoiding the A30 car park. you can get around from Looe really easily as well.
