...should add that having to give up work means we're on a budget too!

give us an idea on whereabouts the wedding is and I'll suggest (if I can) some hotels in that area.

You could also put out a request on the childminder threads - there may be a local cm that would be up for a bit of babysitting.

Hawkwell House Hotel, Iffley (on direct bus route to CC)- 5-8mins by taxi
The Four Pillars, Sandford on Thames - about 10mins by taxi
Theres also a Premier Travel Inn on top end of Cowley Road, just off ringroad - I guess they won't offer babysitting but may be a good optionif you could find a childminder locally.

Sorry don't know any local cms, work in Oxford but commute in. I've got a CRB but not registered with Ofsted (CCSI instead - care commission) otherwise I'd offer to help you out.

Would using a national babysitting service not be viable... they may come to a hotel. They will have their membership fee, but even with that it may be cheaper than using a service provided by the hotel itself (though I know one of the large national babysitting agencies has contacts with hotel chains).

FindaSitter.co.uk list 3 babysitters within 5 miles of Corpus Christi.
Nannyjob.co.uk lists 7 babysitters within 5 miles.
So could be worth using those internet sites to contact a local babysitter and seeing if they would come to babysit at your hotel.
