Glamping, camping, budget holiday ideas for Summer hols in UK

I'm looking for ideas for something other than cheap hotel rooms. Considering camping, but as it's the first time in a long while and have no tent at the moment, I'm thinking glamping might be better!

Preferably further south than Birmingham, not far from the sea would be ideal but not essential.

Any ideas? I don't know where to start!

glamping and yurts are not cheap!! can you borrow a tent from a friend to see how you get on with it first as it doesn't suit everyone. what about North Wales? not far from Birmingham and lots to do. Porthmadog is lovely and there is camping in the area. caravans are often as expensive as cottages because they have all the facilities on site. how many of you going?

I am asking around to see if anyone is kind enough to borrow us a tent! There are three of us going, but we have no equipment at the moment.

I like North Wales but as we are in Staffordshire, we do tend to go there for day trips, so thinking somewhere different.

Thanks mummymeister

Woodlands near Dartmouth. We did a cheap week there at the end of the school summer hols when our area had a week longer than Devon schools. Free entry to the theme park.
