Derbyshire/Peak District - where to stay?

Hi

Would like to spend a week in Derbyshire over the summer. We know it will be ££££££. Have two small children so swimming pool would be fantastic as would a playground. Well fitted kitchen a must.

Also want to be able to walk from the door if possible, would like to walk Dove Dale in particular although we don't do theme parks yet as children too young.

Recommendations?

Buxton has a swimming pool and a lovely big park. I am not sure how much you could "walk from the door" though.

If you do have £££££ to spend the cottages on the Chatsworth Estate are supposed to be rather fine.

Have your tried Darwin Forest Country Park near Matlock or Sandybrook Country Park near Ashbourne and Dovedale? Both have luxury lodges with fab family facilities including swimming pools.

I've stayed in Darwin and Sandybrook and would highly recommend both of them. One has a larger pool and a soft play but can't remember which one
