Looking for something quirky rather than a chain for tea on Sat night with a 4 year old who isn't fussy. Like places in historical or interesting buildings. Will either be around Tower Bridge area or Regent St / Piccadilly if we do Hamleys. Not having much luck with the early option but might be asking the impossible! Any suggestions gratefully received!

Perkin reveller right next to Tower of London. It's open breakfast until late so should be able to eat then. Has outside dining if nice

China Town? If Regent St, it's not far (affordable and swift black cab to give you a treat?!). Our DCs have always loved crispy duck. Throw n some rice and broccoli and it's even reasonably balanced?!

Or Fortnum's? Might be fun for a posh tea?

OP, I think I know of the perfect place. Quirky decor, child friendly, great food, SoHo, pre theatre menu from 5.

Wong Kei's - iconic place in Chinatown with very good, very cheap food.

National Portrait Restaurant - not cheap, but amazing views across Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall. Booking is necessary. www.npg.org.uk/visit/shop-eat-drink/restaurant.php

Also second the Perkin Reveller: www.perkinreveller.co.uk/
