I took the DCs when they were younger than that and, despite the moaning, they ended up enjoying some of it - much the same as me Grin. Always something there to grab the imagination!

Mine absolutely hated it. cant say I was overwhelmed with enthusiasm either. so many other fab things to do in cornwall that this comes bottom of my list I am afraid.

My daughter is 10, she loves it. There's an activity sheet that helps children look at and talk about the art, my 6 year old adores that sort of thing as well. My son, 12 likes to run in the turbine hall, play on the little kids activity set and do parkour outside and along the southbank. So it really depends on your child. Sometimes they have fantastic exhibitions in the turbine hall, all hands on and active. Like den building or wall climbing.

If DS is 10 what about the natural history museum or better still the science museum?

My teen DSs were bored rigid I'm afraid.

There are Shaun the Sheep models scattered about London at the moment. Would he enjoy looking for those?

Mine loved it (the 10yo more than the 5yo) and there is lots to do along the South Bank more generally too. And it's free to get in, so even if you don't spend hours there there's no pressure to enjoy it because of the financial outlay
