Dartmoor - looking for somewhere to stay

We are planning a weekend break to Dartmoor in July/August and are looking for ideas on where to stay. Have done lots of googling but not found anything which tempts me to book. Any recommendations please?

I lived in the Mary Tavy area for several years and it's popular with walkers. The Mary Tavy Inn has b&b rooms and food, The royal Standard might be a bit noisy at the weekends (it's the local) and the Peter Tavy Static Caravan Park is good for families. You need a car in all three cases.

We live south of the Moor, but here are a few I just found:

Thanks Ferguson They look amasing and we much prefer renting a cottage, but it seems no one will let us rent just for a weekend in the holidays hence looking for a hotel/ bb.

Manaton is fantastic for walking, not only do you have the moor on the doorstep but the Bovey valley/Lustleigh Cleave too. Not sure what size place you're looking for but how about this www.dartmoorcottage.wix.com
