Thinking of a week on the Isle of Wight in May/June/July with grandparents and our DTs who'll be nearly 3 when we go. Any tips on areas to stay - we'll most likely hire a cottage. The kids love the beach - any ones that are fab for toddlers? Presume if we stay in land we won't be too far away from the sea at any point? And any tips for day trips the kids will like? Thanks very much x.

There's a dinosaur museum in sandown right next to the (lovely sandy) beach and cliffs where you can go actual fossil hunting. My DS loved it there. It's very easy to get around island on the bus and so small you're never very far away from the sea.
I love the IOW... Feels like you're going back in time.

Thanks. Dinosaurs and buses sound great!

We have a holiday home in West Cowes, it is a victorian house spread over 3 floors with 4 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Travel cor, high chair, enclosed garden. We are just about to finish renovating it. It is a minutes walk from the high street. It had anew kitchen, bathrooms, furniture, appliances. Our last home was number 6 on Tripadvisor. I can email you more photos of you are intersted.

Shanklin is a lovely sandy beach. Robin Hill adventure park, miniature village, Osbourne House, chain ferry in Cowes........

Love IOW. Doesn't matter where you stay as its so small you can visit anywhere.

Love the Isle of Wight - especially with little ones.
Yaverland beach is lovely (far end of Sandown)
Visits - steam train, zoo, Amazon World, Sea View animal park, Carisbrooke Castle.
Beaches easy are easy to get to from anywhere on the island.

We let our lovely holiday apartments in Ventnor, which is a pretty victorian town on the sunny south side of the island. They overlook the beach and have really stunning sea views, but are walking distance to the shops and restaurants so really easy for families.

My children love it there, especially on the beach and there is a fab paddling pool with cafe next door so we can chill out with a coffee or glass of wine, whilst they splash about in the pool. Take a look at Salty Holidays.
