Smoke detectors in private rented accommodation

Hi Mumsnet!

I have started a petition to encourage Landlords in the private rented sector to install smoke detectors. Currently, the law does not make it mandatory for Landlords to install smoke detectors in buildings constructed before 1992 or if they are not a HMO.

This is really disappointing and I would like to encourage you all to help me with this battle to ensure the Government make smoke detectors mandatory. I'm sure most of us have lived in rented accommodation and safety is a key requirement to a happy home!

Please take a moment to look at my petition and any support is much appreciated.
