Hi, my pil have asked to do a week's holiday with us this year and as they don't do foreign holidays this means UK. The children will be 2.5 and 6mo by the summer so don't want more than a 4 hour drive we can split up over a day. Pil live in Manchester, we live in London.

Any suggestions for a good area to look at, in august as mil works school terms? They can't spend loads and we're ideally doing a week with friends abroad im the same month so cheap is good, and we need to bear in mind that being the UK, no weather type is guaranteed!

I'd get a self catering cottage.
Locations:
York (if your north london!)?
Peak District?

Forest of Dean is beautiful and fits your travel range. We went there with my parents and had a great week despite rubbish weather. Loved it so much we went back the following year.

We stayed at Whitemead Holiday Park and then at Wye Valley YHA

Both Brilliant. Whitemead is cheaper through the CSMA
