Any ideas? The ones I have been looking at are well over £200 p/n and even more at weekends (even apartments) - is this average? Any recommendations? Thanks

Have just booked The Angus near Kings Cross for £75 per night, and it has great reviews on TripAdvisor

If you just want a place to lay your head, I recommend the EasyHotel chain - rooms in central London from £29 a head. They are very basic but clean, safe and all have ensuite toilet and shower.

£29 a room sorry.

i stayed here last year
www.booking.com/hotel/gb/the-church-street.en-gb.html?sid=2db5fdbd290027a308b45194eb75a32e;dcid=2

and it was really lovely

A couple of months back, I went to... I simply can't remember just now, but it was a known chain, and had a special offer on, so £80pn, somewhere near Old Street/Angel. Would normally have been double that or more.

Also had a hotel near Tavistock Square the year before at about £60, but it wasn't that great quality.

I usually go through www.booking.com.

Oh yes I've stayed in that Church Street hotel too and it is lovely. Nowhere near a tube though and not all rooms are ensuite.
