Any recommendations for holiday accommodation sort of around Bristol (will have a car). Kids of 4 and 7. Would like to visit friends in Bristol but not fussed about being right in the city as would like to see the surrounding area.

Oh and recommendations for nice things to do with a 4 and 7 yr old around there (will have a hire car).

Thanks!

Not sure about accommodation but a serviced apartment would suit you well.

Things to do in bristol:
Bristol zoo
At bristol science centre
Bristol museum
Docks and boat ride
Suspension bridge
Ss Great Britain
Parks, hengrove play park, Blaise castle
Is you go in tripadvisor and click in attractions it lists all attractions ranked, very useful

Outside bristol
Bath , royal Victoria park etc
Tyntesfield
Noah's ark
Cheddar gorge
Loads of farm park type places
Clevedon pier
Mendips
Have a great time

Haven't stayed here but this place is in a lovely location www.woodbarnfarmcottages.co.uk/pages/tariff.php and may be suitable.
Chew Valley Lake is a lovely reservoir with walks, play area and a cafe.
(Your parking fee at the lake is refunded if you spend a certain amount in the cafe.)
Would also add MShed museum (free entry) to the list given by Heels. This is by the docks.
