It looks like such a lovely place to have a family holiday. Has anyone been there and have any tips or good places to spend the day? Any cottage recommendations?

It's a brilliant place to holiday! We have been lots of times and can recommend staying around Alnwick/Alnmouth/Bamburgh. Beautiful beaches, lots of castles and loads to do with kids - Alnwick castle and gardens are brilliant and you could easily do a day at each one. Farne Islands are a lovely trip too, you catch the boat from Seahouses.

We've stayed in various cottages over the years, perhaps if you can give an idea of budget and size that you are looking for I might be able to suggest some that we have stayed in Smile

Friends stayed at www.breamishvalley.co.uk/northumberland-map.cfm and said it was lovely
