Suggestions for large family group south of England please?

We are looking for somewhere to rent for my extended family to celebrate my parent's 70th birthdays in October half term 2015. Need to accommodate 8 adults (4couples) plus 8 kids aged 1-9yrs for 3-7 days. Central/ southern England to minimise travel times. Ideally would have pool/ activities. All suggestions welcome. TIA!

Its just like an old country house with loads of rooms and huge dining tables in the dining room/kitchen. Plenty of photos on the website so you can see what I mean. I've been in the summer but also have a friend who has been in winter for New Year. Not far from the jurassic coast for dinosaur hunting, weather permitting.

How about The Cleeve big house in Exmoor National Park, pubs and things close by and plenty of things to see and do locally. Fast run down M5 as far as Taunton.

Might be too far but we have used Western House twice and it's great. Close to Newton Abbot it is furninshed to a high standard and has an indoor swimming pool and games room. www.western-house-devon.co.uk/
