looking to spend 1 night at a spa any recommendations - more for fun and leisure rather than health farm :)

Bath. we stayed in a budget hotel and had a full day spa with 2 treatments each at Bath spa. open air pool on the roof, lovely lunch and much nicer and cheaper than staying at a spa hotel. plus we had time the day before for a bit of shopping and a nice meal.

hulahoopsilove · 06/09/2014 14:47

Hoar cross hall will be nearer, it used to be great, but I've heard bad reviews recently.

Titanic spa has a good reputation, that's up in Yorkshire.

TryingNotToLaugh · 06/09/2014 15:17

Whittlebury Hall.

Have been 3 times now. Not far from Champneys but much much better value.

SassUK67 · 06/09/2014 17:43

Fairlawns in Walsall, I haven't stayed at the hotel but the spa and food (included) were fantastic. Check out Tripadvisor, they have wonderful reviews.

spababe · 07/09/2014 13:14

I've just got back from Centre Parcs and the spas there are fabulous and at Woburn and Elveden they do 'Spa Suites' in the hotel - sort of packages with the spa included I think

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 07/09/2014 13:23

I loved Chartlon House in Somerset and we had it almost to ourselves. The swimming pool is tiny though if you actually want to swim but the other facilities were excellent.

TryingNotToLaugh · 08/09/2014 16:15

Yy to Centre Parcs Spa. I had forgotten about that. Very lovely, especially the heated double day beds where you can just have a nap.

TheTravellingLemon · 08/09/2014 16:18

Pennyhill Park. Utter bliss!

TheTravellingLemon · 08/09/2014 16:19

Sorry, just saw you said it was too far.

idlefolly · 08/09/2014 16:20

Ragdale Hall is absolutely fantastic. It's all floaty and warm and you pad around in dressing gown and slippers all day.

Shockers · 08/09/2014 16:30

Had a wonderful day/night at The Feversham Arms in Helmsley with DH. The sunshine and the outdoor pool helped though Smile.

FoxSticks · 08/09/2014 16:36

Not relevant at all but I used to work at Pennyhill Park as a waitress when I was 17, I've always wanted to go back as a guest Smile

outtolunchagain · 08/09/2014 16:44

Definitely Ragdale

Frangipane1976 · 09/09/2014 11:46

Definitely Pennyhill Park.

roalddahl · 12/09/2014 20:27

I third Ragdale.

jas1978 · 21/09/2014 13:50

interesting. I have made a note of these x

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/09/2014 21:20

I know you said Pennyhill Park was too far but I'd travel the other side of the country for it. It is by far the best spa hotel I've ever been to. Not cheap but so worth it. Everything about it is amazing from the spa to the rooms and food.

Andcake · 28/09/2014 21:25

Ragdale hall from me to. Get me there now. Not too health farm, lovely food, breakfast in bed...

CocktailQueen · 28/09/2014 21:28

Whittle bury hall - good but quite busy and. Conference-y; champneys at tring or henlow grange - both excellent but more £££

janesaysl · 28/09/2014 21:38

Yy to fairlawns, family run loveliness rather than luxurious though, but excellent staff and food.
I think Hoarcross is great.
How about a city break in Brum and stay at the Cube? The spa is lovely with fab hanging lounge 'pods' and the lunch area is cool and canal side.

hulahoopsilove · 30/09/2014 13:06

ragdale looks a bit too health farm for me and lol at Brum never been there

Calcot Manor in Tetbury near the Cotswolds. I've been to many spas, me and DH go together for relaxation time. This is the very best ever! Specially at christmas with their outdoor hottub and roaring fire.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/09/2014 19:59

Birmingham is perfectly civilised nowadays, you know. We have running water and everything now.
