4 of us are planning a weekend away but stuck for an interesting place to go - any suggestions? We are looking at UK or possibly somewhere accessible by Eurostar. We live between Cambridge and London so both of those are out! We looked at Bath, but seems v expensive? Anything else similar to Bath maybe?

Thanks

Have a look at Saco Apartments we stayed with them in Bath - it sounds expensive at £250 ish per night but sleeps four so only £125 each for two nights. I like staying in an apartment rather than hotel as you can all sit around in PJs drinking tea in the morning rather than having to meet at breakfast.

I also stayed at a lovely place in Rye, East Sussex but that might be just a bit too far away for you.

Also, Birmingham is a fab destination. Brilliant shopping and numerous bars and restaurants. I think Saco have apartments there but I have stayed several times at Malmaison which is brilliant and often has good offers.

petitdonkey · 19/08/2014 09:36

Just looked at Malmaison and a twin is £178 for two nights - I think that's great value!

happyyonisleepyyoni · 19/08/2014 09:56

Malmaison sounds good, we like naice hotels :) will check out the apartments as well, thanks!

York or Leeds could maybe work - will look into it!

The Midland, Manchester ?

angeltulips · 19/08/2014 10:18

York is fab and the train is fast to get there

Was going to suggest bath also.

pieceofpurplesky · 19/08/2014 10:35

Chester or Manchester?

RiojaHaze · 19/08/2014 10:37

We stayed in Bath for a girls weekend earlier in the year. We found a great house that was right in the city centre and cost us about £100 each. There are loads of private rentals and a lot of them are walking distance to the railway station or come with parking permits so you can park as close as you can get.

Bath is an amazing city with loads of shops and a great nightlife.

RiojaHaze · 19/08/2014 10:38

There's a lot in Bristol too which might be worth checking out!

Toadsrevisited · 19/08/2014 18:36

Feel free to pm me for places to go if you decide on York, happy

GalaxyInMyPants · 19/08/2014 18:48

It depends what you're after really.

Leeds is a great shopping destination. York, not so much, but it has stuff like the Minster and the walls and Betty's tea shop.

I can recommend Cedar Court Grand as a fab central hotel in York.

Yes to York, lovely city, direct trains from London - book well ahead and treat yourself to first class! Cardiff and Edinburgh also great for a weekend.
