Have been trawling websites for holidays, cottages even yurts to see if I could get a late deal for DH, I and 2 dds.

Is there a cottage beside you available? A friend who rents places out last minute been let down?

Just trying on the off chance.

Where are you wanting to go - sometimes local tourist information can help.

Have you thought of looking on air bnb - there are some where you are staying in a house with the owner but lots where you're on your own. here

Have tried air bnb but tricky sometimes to check if children allowed. Don't mind too much where in uk. Tourist information a good idea thanks.

When are you looking for - I'm sure someone on here will be vans to help. And a vague idea of where would hopefully narrow it down a bit.

Wales, Lake District, am not from uk so not great on the geography! We live in norfolk so have done most tourist bits here.

I just found lots of availability on www.cottages4you.co.uk/ .
I searched from next Friday for a week in Derbyshire (as I thought that might be far enough away from home, but not too far!). Cheapest was £400 for a week.
