London - good food suggestions for whole family?

We're going to London in October half term and would love to go to some (or one or two) big name restaurants/ foodie destinations with the children (10 and 11) so if you have suggestions they would be much appreciated. We may go for lunch rather than evening meal but are keen to go somewhere well regarded as part of our holiday week. Many thanks for all suggestions,

If my budget was high end I would go Hakkasan... Amazing food

If you like fish J Shenley between Leicester Sq and covent garden is lush. Excellent oyster bar and my DC loved it there as very different from normal places we go. But not cheap so maybe holiday treat ;)

How foodie are you talking? Michelin stars, more formal type or 'destination'/cool places or great food and good value?

Brasserie Zedel is beautiful, very grand and amazing value - great food but good French brasserie style, not fancy.

Duck and Waffle has spectacular views but a little out of the way (Liverpool St)

If £ not such a concern then I'd go for Yauatcha rather than Hakkasan...the most fantastic dim sum and very cool restaurant.

And the food in Roka is amazing but again ££

We took our 3 YO with us to tea at The Ritz (3 years ago now). The staff were so welcoming and amazingly kind and accommodating. It was a great formal experience (but not cheap) and felt like a proper treat.

Thank you all. We're ok with it being a holiday treat but obvs that won't be every day so good value and cool is very welcome. Always happy to eat at a Michelin starred place on a fixed price lunch if the evening a la carte is too daunting (price always scary for us 'country folk').

Busaba if you like Thai food. Informal, good atmosphere and fair prices. There's a couple now dotted around central London.

If you like tapas then there are some great places...butby their nature they are pretty informal. Check out Barrafina, Brindisa, Fino and Pix.

Another classic and not too pricey is Moro but it is in Exmouth Market so out of main tourist areas...but it would work alongside a visit to St Paul's/the City as would St John (if you have fairly adventurous dc's food wise, it is offal heavy), or Smiths of Smithfield. (Where the bistrot would probably be a good choice between the bar on the ground floor or fine dining on the top).

And a cheaper, great option for Dim Sum is Royal China club.

My kids love Oxo tower brasserie for amazing views of London . Quaglinos also great- quite special walking down the huge staircase into the restaurant. Staff make a huge fuss of kids at the Wolsey, ivy is also very kid friendly.

weve just got back and went to Bill's in the West End - it was fun, quirky and lovely food and good portions. The chocolate brownie milk shake is more of a dessert and was yummy!!!!
