Would August bank holiday in Cornwall be a crazy idea?

We're thinking of going camping over the bank holiday, leaving on the Thursday afternoon to avoid the BH traffic and coming back on the Wednesday after the BH.

I'm looking at the Padstow area, but I know we're going to be pretty much stationary for the 3-day weekend. DH wants to go to the Cotswolds instead, but I think it'll be just as busy there.

Any thoughts?

Cotswolds won't be as busy as Cornwall from experience

Where are you? What about the gower?

We're in Southampton but are looking at staying on a Camping & Caravanning Temporary Holiday Site so are fairly restricted as to where they are. Nothing in Gower.

Cornwall will be packed! Trust me, I live there and have to put up with it every year.

If you come here, pick a campsite in a place with lots to do, like falmouth, st Ives, newquay, etc. As moving around will be difficult.
