Places to stay near Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Planning a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, without a car. Getting to the park itself is fine but can anyone recommend good accommodation without a car?

I found a hotel within walking distance of the park which looks good, but the nearby restaurants are no good for us as we are both veggies.

Thought Wakefield might have better restaurant choice but can't find a good hotel there.

Also hoping to go to the Hepworth while we are there.

I don't live far from the sculpture park, but as I always drive there I am stumped for ideas of where to stay without a car. There is a list of hotels in Wakefield here, but you would need to choose one near the station - I assume you will be arriving by train.

Buses run to the sculpture park from both Wakefield and Barnsley, so you could even stay in Barnsley. There are a three hotels in Dodworth, all within walking distance of the station. Dodworth also has a couple of good Indian restaurants. The train from Barnsley goes to Wakefield Kirkgate which is far more convenient for the Hepworth Gallery than Wakefield Westgate.

Depending on how long your visit is I highly recommend a visit to the National Coal Mining museum - you can get a bus from Wakefield.
