It's very nice, plenty of private ensuite rooms

I'm not sure what the kitchen facilities are like as we either ate in the restaurant or in York which is easy walking distance

It does get booked up though so you need to book fairly far in advance

We had a lovely time there last summer. Walk along the river into town. It's easy and not too far. New family rooms have kids in bunks below and adults in double bed on a mezzanine level. Posh! You can eat cheaply in the yha itself, they have one of the modern yha bistro type set ups. There were a few stags/lads on the p**s when we were there but we didn't spend too much time at the yha so wasn't a major problem.

We stayed earlier in the year. As others have said the location is fab - a short walk along the river to the town. Room was basic but fine, there's a small games room. The self catering facilities aren't great compared to other hostels we've been too - a bit on the small side and grubby if I'm honest. But the bar area is good and the menu looked nice. There was also large groups of lads when we were there too but they were all well behaved!

Its nice there. Good area. Close to town. Better than most yha I have been to.
