So we thought we'd leave the foreign holiday for another year but really want some beach time for a few days. We're hoping to go for 3 nights at end of June and are open to all kinds of ideas: hotel, apartment, cottage, etc. But must be child friendly and safe.

I'm dreading it to be honest Grin but it's mainly for our toddler but it would be nice if we could enjoy it too.

Thank you Smile

Check out silver cottage in braunton. Lovely b&b, it's 2 beds so you're in your own self contained cottage- but still get the fabulous perks of a cooked breakfast. They do an evening meal too if you want it, and there's a small kitchenette for making lunches if you want to! Little lounge and garden with chickens etc. close to gorgeous beaches- and quite possibly the most charming hosts ever (who have their own kids). We are going for the second time this summer and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling Smile!

Churchwood Valley in Wembury is lovely - rustic log cabins in woodland a short walk from the beach (excellent for rockpooling). Close to Plymouth, Dartmoor and Cornwall so ideal base for outings.

They both sound great, thank you! Unfortunately churchwood isn't available the dates we want but silver cottage is so it's certainly a possibility Smile

Ooohhh that is exciting! The beaches at Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe are all nearby, as is the 'secret beach' through the tunnels at Ilfracombe! There are also other attractions that could appeal to your little one- The Big Sheep in Bideford, Milky Way adventure park in Bideford, Exmoor Zoo in Barnstaple, plus much more (I sound like a Devonshire rep!) days out [[http://www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/search.php?county=devon]]. We never got further than the beaches last year as the weather was lovely. A cheap boogie board was a hit with my son (3 at the time), and we just dragged him along the shoreline, which he constituted as being 'surfing'!!! Wherever you decide I hope you have a great time.

We recently went to Parkdean Ruda caravan park which has croyde bay on its doorstep. Never done static caravans before but it was fabulous fun and literally a minute walk to a gorgeous clean beach. Quiet and peaceful.

How about a yurt? We stayed at the orchard retreat afrw weeks ago - was beautiful and very child friendly in fact the owners have kids. If you're worried about the wood burner in the yurts they've got cottages too

Can I recommend Pennywell Farm - also good if its wet. Rare Breeds park at Totnes (the other side of the steam railway line) is also good.
