Hi,

We are going to North Wales for 1/2 term. We have a 10 year old boy and a girl, almost 6. We have been before but I am looking for ideas of days out that we may have missed.
We are members of English Heritage and National Trust.
What is the Greenwood Forest theme park like? We may go there one day?

Caernarfon Castle

Anglesey , boat trip from Beaumaris and the castle which was free or reduced admission with NT/EH , Plas Newydd (NT) has some adventure obstacles in the woods and activities for kids in the house and grounds.

If you are going further east then Llangollen is lovely and there is the steam railway to take the children on.

If your dc want to do the Go Ape type activity by the lake at the base of Snowdon book a timeslot in advance. Likewise you may want to pre-book the train to go up it if that is on your radar.

if you are in English heritage and have been for more than a year then all cadw places are free otherwise if your english heritage is in the first year then you get a discount

harlech, caernarfon, conwy, beaumaris all have good castles

Llechwedd slate mine at Blaenau Ffestiniog

Ffestiniog railway (stop off at Tan y Bwlch for a picnic)

Welsh highland railway (stop off at beddgelert for your picnic)

Electric mountain

They have just re-opened the railway from harlech down to barmouth - take the train down and sit on the sea side -the view is incredible, then take the little ferry across to fairbourne and walk around to morfa maddwach and back across the bridge

Hire bikes at Dolgellau or barmouth and do the mawddach trail back along the old railway to the sea

Coed y brenin mountain bike centre - loads of trails of all abilities
If you really want an adrenilin boost try this new attraction
