London tube fares, Oyster cards and children

I'm looking at going to London at the weekend and was looking at the difference between the 'Winter Sale' train fare and the normal Travelcard fare.

Which one is the cheapest depends how much we'll have to pay for DC on the tube.

I'm looking at the Oyster card. DH & I already have Oyster cards so this isn't a problem. I believe that DS(9) will travel free as he will be with us. So it's just DD(12) that I'm getting in a twist about.

What are my options for her? I think I'm too late to get a photocard for her so I think we'll have to just get a normal child's travelcard. Is that right?

Forgot to say that we're hoping to do this London for free so we'll be mainly on the buses I think.

Yes, you're too late as they post the photocards to you.

You'll have to pay full adult fare for her All the info is here

Full adult fare on the bus, that is. You'll pay child rates on the tube.

You can get a child one day travel card which will allow her travel on trains, buses, underground, tram and overground. I would have thought that this would have been the cheapest way to do it.

Thanks.

That link is what has confused me as it doesn't tell you what the fares are without the photocard.

The TfL web site is aimed at convincing everyone to use Oyster, so it's hard to navigate if that's not what you want.

You can buy a paper child one day travel card from a ticket machine in any tube station. I think it costs 2.

No idea but thank you for sharing the link - that is really really thorough and just what I needed for later this year! Hope you have a great trip.
