Have never been and have just started to look into it but b&b rates seem very high.
Recommendations for places to stay (near Shaftesbury) would be welcome.

What about looking at mobile homes, cottages. Log cabins. Often easier than being holed up in one room with kids. And no ornaments for over inquisative fingers to destroy = less stress!
Also worth checking out if any big hotels are doing deals. Probibly not in August. We have certainly had rooms at smart hotel for £100 Inc free buffet breakfast and use of pool. Better value than £25 person b+b for family and more space to move.
