Where should we go on a short break?

We have a chance to take a short break in June - where should we go?

It will be 2 adults and 2 DC (5 & 2). We are SW London, and don't want to travel more than 2/2.5 hours (by car).

We have spent time in the New Forest in the last couple of years and love it, but want somewhere different this time. Looking at booking a week in Dorset for the summer holidays.

I would prefer a hotel, but we would need a separate sleeping area for the DCs. We have looked at Moonfleet Manor but DH is not keen (thinks it is too expensive).

So if you were me, where would you look at going?

Drayton manor. Thomas land. The kids will love it!

That's an interesting idea. We have discussed Legoland (staying in the Lego hotel) but think it might be better next year when DC2 is 3 and able to do more (will only just turn 2 in the Spring).

We took my DS in October half term (my parents only live about 15mins away!) and he was just under 2 and just a tad too small for the troublesome trucks ride and some of the others in the park but fine for the rest. He loved it! There's a hotel there too and plenty of other stuff in the midlands to do
(Cadbury world / Black Country museum also well worth it).

How about Isle of Wight?

Have you thought about Glamping? It is really good value and lots of fun for parents and children. The Dandelion Hideaway is fab with lovely interiors, proper beds, separate bedrooms and en suite roll top bath, but will be affordable esp compared to Moonfleet. Read Kate Williams review and Trip Advisor comments about the site. There is lots to do on the farm and tons locally in pretty, undiscovered Leicestershire. Have a great trip wherever you go!

Thanks for all the ideas - we are discussing Drayton Manor.

DH doesn't seem fond of the Isle of Wight - no idea why. I wanted to book a cottage there a couple of years ago and he didn't so we ended up in the New Forest. I will have to try again as I would really like to visit.

Glamping - about the only way I will ever camp I think. Never been but I have had a brief look at sites in the past. I shall read the reviews of the Dandelion Hideaway - thanks for the recommendation.
