Dh fancies Snowdonia, somewhere like Dollgellau or Porthmadoc.

Not exactly what you want but we just had a fab week in Wales in a s/c cottage just outside Conwy. We had day trips to Port Merion, Mount Snowdon, Carnarthon (sp) castle, Betsy Coed and Conwy. Its only got one bedroom but had a spacious upstairs with a pull out bed if required or travel cot which we used for DS.

The absolute best thing about it was hot tub within baby monitor range, bliss..... It wasn't expensive called The Apple Store booked through Hoseasons, just say No to the unreasonable insurance costs.
I'd never been to Wales before and absolutely loved it, best thing was the train to the top of Mount Snowdon.

Sounds nice, thank you. We usually go for self-catering cottages, but for some reason dh wants a few days at a hotel ... at least someone else will be doing the washing-up! Your cottage sounds nice though, maybe another time.

How much was the train to the top of Snowdon, if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to take dd up but dh made a face like a slapped bum when I suggested it because of the expense.

I think the train was £24.00 pp so yes it is dear but well worth it. They had an offer that if you booked a day before for the first train 9.30 I think it was half price. We didn't quite make that one but perhaps you could. I think the train is only worthwile if you have a clear day, the views were absolutely amazing, if its not a nice day then its not worth the money.
