DH and I have a few days in a cottage on Dee Estuary, no children. anything/anywhere interesting - we like walking, tea shops, good pubs, galleries etc. And we're going in January so weather may be a limitation.

Caldy and Caldy Hill and West Kirkby is a good walk.

Also Hibre Island if your brave - can walk across ar low tide
(tide times are posted on the North Side ramp in West Kirkby

Not too far for Port Sunlight too.

North Wales in only around and hour away, but daylight and weather
will be against you sadly.

Llandudno is lovely if old fashioned and the Great Orme is interesting.
