Has anyone any recommendations? I'm stunned at the price, its coming up as approx £2.5K for the week. There are six of us as the in laws are coming, it was their idea, but I'm not so sure now.

Has anyone done it cheaper?

You could hire something like this, and hire a boat on a day to day basis. We did this, the little lodge came with a rowing boat to use, and there are loads of marinas to hire day boats of various sizes.

have you looked at the ones around the west midlands? dh did them and had great fun. bet its going to be cheaper as well. lots of good visits to go on and you could even go into the centre of Birmingham for the evening if you wanted. don't be too surprised by prices. everything has gone up following the change in school holiday rules.

I'm a newcomer to the forum but thought I might be able to help you in regards to boating holidays. You should be able to find something on the Norfolk Broads that is under £2.5K for the May Bank Holiday. Prices do depend on how modern the cruiser is and whether you need to make up any beds onboard, as most cruisers have at least one make up bed in the saloon (the seating area of the boat).

That sounds a lot . We've had a 10-12 berth with friends and it was only about half that ! Sometimes it is cheaper to go direct to a boatyard than to use Blakes/Hoseasons et al

I have just had a look at the Hoseasons website and it is much cheaper than that. Many years ago 10 of us hired a boat from Maidstone and had a whale of a time. I'm pretty sure we went with Hoseasons, but I can't be sure.
