Has any stayed here? They have some very cheap rates at the mo. I wondered how far it was from the beach.

Never stayed there but as you can see it's not really near the beach. Scroll down on the map to see where the beach is.

Don't know what happened there, we only seem to have half a page. will try again!

foxinsocks · 28/06/2006 10:32

yes we have stayed there

the rooms are huge - especially if you get a family room

the breakfasts are good aswell (if you go for that)

it's quite a walk to the beach - there is a bus stop opposite the hotel for a brief ride in - there's also a children's playground and a playing field (with goals on it) on the other side of the road within easy walking distance

foxinsocks · 28/06/2006 10:34

I would say it is probably around 2- 2.5km to the beach? we certainly didn't walk the whole way (the kids wouldn't have lasted)

foxinsocks · 28/06/2006 10:39

actually, looking at that map - maybe it is less than 2km. Ds was only just out of the buggy and it was autumn (so fairly chilly) when we went so I didn't subject them to the walk. I imagine if you have a buggy, then the walk would be fine (but there is always the option of the bus if you can't manage it!)

Yes, you'd need to get a bus down to the sea but there are plenty of them along the A23 as it's a main road. You won't get anywhere to stay at that price near the sea. Prices rocket especially at this time of year.

Preston Park, opposite the Travelodge, is lovely. There's a great indie cinema a short walk away too which does kids film club on a Saturday morning. I don't know when you're planning tocome?

it is a great bargain stay in Brighton - we have gone several times when they have had special deals on. In one half term it was £26 a night - we paid for breakfast and the car parking so for 2 days (1 night) in Brighton, I think it ended up as being under £50 and we all had a brilliant time

crouchingtigeress · 28/06/2006 13:02

Thank you all for your comments, I didn't want to make a booking without getting some feedback. Hopefully we'll be driving so the distance shouldn't be a problem,I think I prefer it not being too close. The big room sounds good.

I'm planning to go in August for two nights, found the £26 deal for a family room - what a bargain. The cinema and park sound lovely, the Zippo's circus will also be there so might go to that too.

It will be soo good to get out of london, thanks again folks.
