Telford and surroundign area - any castles/old churches etc?

Am driving DC up to Telford where they are spending a day at a gaming show , so looking to spend a day on my own in the area - any suggestions welcome....

Shrewsbury has several old churches and attingham park on the outskirts.

Or in telford there's Sunnycroft - not the grandest but good for a couple of hours. There's also Ironbridge if you want to have a nice walk and cup of coffee.

I can second Ironbridge. It is brilliant and really needs more than a day to see everything.
