Which would be better for a short break with kids Exmouth or salcombe?

I am thinking of taking my 7 year old 13 year old away for a couple of days next week.

salcombe looks very pretty but is there much for the kids to do around there orwould Exmouth be better? I know there are beaches but we live by the sea so it's not such a novelty for them.

I am taking them on my own so want to break to be a stress free as is possible!

Personally I would go for Salcombe, it really is lovely and as a smaller town they could have a little bit more independence. Nearby is Woodlands (nr Dartmouth) there are probably sailing and kayaking things to do, and walks around the coast.

Exmouth is nice too but more of a town iyswim.

(I live in the South Hams so may be slightly biased!)

Salcombe is a wonderful holiday destination (sorry never been to exmouth)

wow . very different places. In Salcombe most kids wear Boden. The only shops are White Stuff, Fat face, Sea salt etc etc. It is vair nice. Beautiful beaches,coast line, sailing etc.
Exmouth is much more ...well poundland. Its a bucket and spade sea side resort. Cheap and cheerful.

Have done both at least three times... Exmouth has quite a bit to offer... Ten pin bowling, Stand Up paddles, Crealy Farm park, Darts farm produce and great walks on Woodbury Common where you often see the marines on manoeuvre ... Salcombe has a different vibe... Short river ferry trip, big on ice cream and dining, yachts ...
