Is the Lake district a good idea with an 8 year old with SEN's??

Hi, my DH and I are planning to visit the Lake district for a week during the summer holidays. Our 8 year old DD has severe learning difficulties and can't walk long distances. She loves nature and just being out doors, but I'm wondering if she could cope with the amount of walking. Would it be a suitable place to bring her buggy?
She can get very easily bored and restless, so I'm wondering if there would be enough to keep her entertained? She loves swimming so I thought we could swim in one of the lakes (with wetsuits!) I think she'd like the Beatrix Potter attraction, but is there anything else?

Tarn Hows is a man made lake above Hawkshead with a good path round it. You may not make a full circuit but definitely worth a visit on a dry day. National trust car park though.
You can get very close to the edge of the lake at Coniston at the Blue bird cafe - car park right there and lovely cafe which usually sells bags of bread to feed the ducks with. You can then watch the boats on the pier and see the ferry go past.

I was just about to suggest Tarn Hows. Also the edge of Windermere by Wray Castle has parking spaces right by the shore and a wide flat path. The prom at Grange is lovely for an easy walk and you can see lots of birds on the mudflats. Grizedale has a buggy friendly route through a sculpture trail.

So yes. Lakes sounds like a good choice. I'm sure I'll think of more. Pm me if you decide to visit and I'll make some more suggestions
