Hello
Can anyone recommend the best child friendly beaches to visit near Christchurch?.
We will be staying near there at the end of August with 2 dds aged 6 and 3.

Thanks

All the beaches in the area are great, try Southbourne, Friars Cliff, Highcliffe which are sandy or further down the coast Barton on Sea and Milford. Also fab is Hengisbury Head which has walks and a noddy train.

Have a great time.

We were in Christchurch last week and used Avon beach which was great and had easy to get to toilets/shop which was handy.

We also travelled over to sandbanks a few times

We went to Mudeford for the first time a little while ago. We took the ferry across to the sand spit and enjoyed swimming on the beach on the other side. And we looked at all the beach huts you can sleep in (if you can afford to buy one @ £200,000...)

All of the above. I'd avoid Bournemouth like the plague, it's packed with people. If you've got the car, fancy an all dayer to make the traffic worth it, or go very early, go to Studland, over the chain ferry from Sandbanks. If you don't want to drive then Mudeford and get the ferry across to Mudeford Spit and Hengistbury Head. Alternatively if you're right in town, you can get the ferry from Tuckton, The Captains Club or Christchurch Quay down to Mudeford Spit. Enjoy.

Can anyone recommend any good hotels in this area? Family-friendly, bit of luxury Wink

Try fishermans walk beach at southbourne. It is the best for children in terms of life guards, toilets, icecream etc. Plus it is a nice walk through fishermans walk which leads from southbourne highstreet (which has lots of independent shops) through to the beach.

Also do you know about the bournemouth air show which is on at the end of august?

period try Christchurch Harbour Hotel for a bit of luxury, not sure whether family friendly though. I live here so don't tend to stay in hotels, only eat in them [😃]
