Looking for a nice, not too expensive hotel in central London- Knighstbridge, South Kensington or Oxford Street area. Room not too small and not noisy as I need my sleep as i have work meetings. Thanks in advance.

The Travelodge in Covent Garden is nice and it's also close to Oxford Street. They also have some hotels near Euston/ Kings Cross.

Another alternative is Premier Inn, they have a nice hotel near Leicester Sq and some other central locations as well.

As I always say on these threads, try the Imperial College summer letting scheme. Lots of accomodation a couple of hundrer yards from the museums in South Ken, and an indoor pool.

I would never again stay in Travelodge Covent Garden - I had the most awful time there a few years ago - I would never again stay in Traveloge full stop - grim.

I would go on Lastminute.com or Late Rooms or Hotel.com a couple of days before and see what you can find. DH and I do a London trip in late September and do a 'secret room' will get 4* for £100 a night. If you go to the City you will get more for your money. I really liked Apex City of London - which we paid just under 100 quid for as a secret hotel via LastMinute.com

Premier Inn much more reliably nice than Traveloge imo, I used to regularly book both for a company - PremierInn - never a complaint - Travelodge - cold showers, no towels, no pillows, rude staff, double booked rooms. I personally was double booked - checked in, went to dinner, hotel had booked someone else to the room they had given me, room I was given had broken lights and no lock on the door - I didn't sleep much.
