Next weekend I've got a day to kill in this area. We've got to be in wensleydale in the evening but I know Wensleydale fairly well and wanted to go somewhere different.

Me, 12yo dd and a dog. So it can't be anywhere the dog can't go as its going to be hot. I'd like a nice walk....but not too long as dd will moan. Smewhere for a picnic and a paddle.

Maybe a large village with some nice shops where me and dd can take it in turns looking in the shops......coffee shop with an outside bit?

Bolton Abbey might fit the bill, apart from the shopping aspect.

That looks nice, good paddle and picnic potential. Thanks.

Was also going to suggest Bolton Abbey. You could combine with Skipton or Ilkley if the shopping is a priority.
