Traveling from Scotland to Cornwall - good cheap overnight spot suggestions?

Any suggestions for a cheap stop over half way to cornwall from Scotland?

we stopped at holiday inn express walsall again this year, £50 for a family room including a breakfast with lovely French pastries! asda nearby for cheap petrol.
