This time next week we'll be in Norfolk, what must we see and do while we are there?

As the title says . It'll be the first trip to Norfolk for any of us, so no experience of the area. We're staying in Burnham Market, near Wells next the Sea and the DCs are 4 and 1.

Ooh lots of lovely places to see in North Norfolk - take them on a Beans Boats trip to see the seals at Blakeney Point - an open wooden boat: very exciting and atmospheric. Castle Rising on the way to Kings Lynn - a real storybook sort of castle with lots of nooks and crannies to explore, and on some weekends they have re-enactment groups from different eras of history. Wells has a miniature railway which takes you a short mile from the town to the beautiful beach round the corner where all those colourful beach huts are which appear on calendars and postcards. Sandringham to see the Queen; nearby is Snettisham Farm Park with young animals to feed, and a tractor and trailer ride to see the deer, and an adventure playground. Bircham Windmill, where you can climb right up to the top and admire the fantastic view all around, and they do great cream teas. Not sure if I'm allowed to add this next bit - but here goes anyway: we have a holiday home at Snettisham beach which sleeps from 2 - 8 and is great for families - we have a website, www.the-patch.com, (although it's full throughout most of the school holiday.)

This place is great

I'd recommend Sheringham Country park just up from Wells, really beautiful and great for walking (national trust owned and I think you get free parking if you're a member). Sheringham as a seaside town is lovely too although the beach is a very stoney.

If you wanted to do a beach would recommend Overstrand which is just up from Cromer. It's not very well known and so so peaceful. We used to go there every summer as kids.

If you want to go King's Lynn/ Swaffham area, the Ecotech centre at Swaffham is good, you can climb right up to the top of the wind turbine which DS1 thought was great. There's also Oxborough Hall (another national trust property) and Castle Acre Priory (English Heritage Owned) which are definitely worth a look.

Sandringham Estate is nice too, they have a show there every year and I'm sure this is coming up soon.

Oh and Holt Country park is fab too and well worth a visit. They have a play equipment walk with rope swings ect dotted around so great for kids

Bewilderwood is really good

And pleasure wood hills

The 4 year old would love Bewilderwood.

Play park at Blakeney (hidden away behind the village hall) also play areas in Cley village (also hidden away!) and Wells.

Fab chippy in Wells.

Cley next the sea has a huge bird reserve with nice boardwalks, hides and good café.

West Runton for rock pools.

Little train from Wells to Walsingham (which is a fascinating little village in itself).

Strawberry picking.

if you do go to swaffham area there's a very nice gardens nearby called gooderstone water gardens, theres also an iceni village on the way to the water gardens
