Things to do in London with children

We're off to London for a week in August, I'll have DS1 (then 7) and DS2 (18m).
What's great for them both to enjoy? Was thinking of the science museum, London Eye and the LT museum, but I cannot remember what's great since I moved out of London nearly 10 years away.

We will be able to get to Liverpool Street, Stratford and om the Victoria line and will be happy to travel all across London (the more the better for my train mad boys!).

Natural History Museum?
There's a climbing park very near the London Eye which your older one might enjoy, and the London Aquarium's there too.

Toy Museum?
Greenwich Park for some exercise?

Discover centre in Stratford is great.

Science museum, national history museum, London transport museum, museum of London, v + a museum of childhood - all great.

Southbank fun for people watching. Fountains at Somerset house always a hit (take a towel and swimming costumes).

Corams fields and peter pan playground are breast playgrounds for kids. Hyde park lido and princess Diana fountain great for hot days too.

Boat trip down the river to Greenwich and doing the cutty sark there may be fun too.

Could you take the older boy to a show? DS1 is desperate to see a few things after West End Live at the weekend.

Diana Playground goes down very well with my boys (6 and 8). They also loved HMS Belfast and the Cutty Sark. Transport Museum is good and the Wallace Collection (lots of suits of armour). I hate it, but they enjoy seeing some of the performers in Covent Garden. You could also do a quick trip into the National Gallery (they liked seeing pictures they had talked about at school, but needs to be limited in time!!)

Its kids week - for the whole of August inn London. One child free space, up to 2 more half price, with a paying adult for loads of shows. Check out kids week.co.UK.

Thank you all for the response. This is why I love London- theres so much to do with children.

My eldest would love a show, but I don't think he would sit still long enough, it might be an idea for next year.

I'll write all these ideas down and DS1 can help decide the itinerary for the week.

I didn't even know there was a zoo in Battersea park!
I grew up in London so I think that will be a must visit.

It is a lovely little zoo (more of a petting zoo with some monkeys really) - wont take long to go round it. Lots of stuff for the kids to play with though - including a real fire engine!
