We've no idea where, but can really only afford to go on holiday at half-term in October. With 3 children, really needs to be self-catering with lots to do in the area.

I don't know what you count as cheap (or where you are! hope not Scotland!) but we love Tenby in west wales. Lovely beaches, lots of kids activities (farm, dinosaur park, theme park etc) and nice town for eating out/general browsing round.

Thanks for your suggestions.
We're in Leicester so anywhere with a beach would go down well!

Agree on Pembrokeshire

St Davids has lovely beaches, loads and loads of rental places. What's your budget?

From Leicester, hmmm, the sea is a logn way off isn't it? (We're in Derby).
North Norfolk coast is nice too, will go and have a hunt.

aviemore - either pine chalets/caravans. Plenty to do, reindeer center, mountain biking, pony trekking, wildlfe park. advanture park, inverness is 30 mins away. Maybe a bit far though.

I don't know \link{http://www.norfolkcottages.co.uk/property/search/dosearch\this firm} but there look to be some nice-ish places. I actually prefer Holkham to Heacham and I also like Wells. Same sort of price as Tenby or even dearer.

CD- not really sure on a budget! Last October we had a self-catering hol for £275 in Cornwall. This year prices seem to be a lot more. I think just seeing what we can get at the moment.
