we're having a sneaky weekend without the kids and then they are joining us for a couple f days. If you have been or live locally i 'd love some restaurant or pub recommendations, price range flexible so all things considered! Thank you. :)

Oh, ps, Bamburgh/Beadnell/Embleton area.

There are a number of nice pubs on the main street in Bamburgh. The menu of one pub is more suited to adults but, in saying that, they were very accommodating when we ate there with our fussy 6yr old DS.

Where abouts in Northumberland are you staying?

OrWellyAnn · 27/03/2013 09:40

Near Bamburgh North, though will be around Embleton quite a bit too as it's my fave area!

I would recommend the Treehouse at Alnwick Gardens, my children love it www.alnwickgarden.com/explore/whats-here/the-treehouse/restaurant and you can walk it off in the fabulous gardens afterwards.

And a pub lunch either in Low Newton or Craster (famous for smoked kippers) with a walk to Dunstanburgh Castle (best castle ever)

Jules we love Embleton beach and Dunstanburgh castle...is there a particular pub at low Newton or Craster that are good?? (Craster kippers are a tradition, yum! )

Jolly Fisherman in Craster, sit by the window and admire the view.

I think the one in Low Newton is called the Ship Inn, it's in the square, right on the beach.

Ooh! We went to Northumberland last year and had a lovely time. Would recommend all of the following:-

The Black Olive Cafe, Alnwick

Milan Restaurant, Wooler

The Barn at Beal

The ship inn at low Newton is fab for a beer. When we went for food though it was nothing special. Setting is gorgeous though....

The cook and barker at Newton in the moor is amazing - could take kids or go on your own.
