Bluestones - stay on site or not? Other thoughts welcome!

Was keen on Bluestones until I read more of the reviews on here, which seem to suggest that hiring a cottage and using the Bluestone facilities as a member of the public might be a better option.

We are two adults and a DD who will be nearly 3 by the time we go. Due to British weather being shit unpredictable it's essential we are nearish things to do indoors.

Any other suggestions welcome!

I don't know about the accommodation there but have visited as a day guest and we thought it was great.

The indoor area with the golf etc was great fun although my DC as a bit older than yours.

We stayed in Saundersfoot as wanted to be right by the sea. It is a lovely village with a huge beach. If you stay somewhere like that you have the option of the beach on your doorstep if the weather is good.

We have done it both ways, but just to warn you that to go swimming as a day visitor is very expensive - was nearly £40 for the 4 of us, so we had 2 upset small children as we were not prepared to pay that, knowing we would have only been in the pool for an hour at the most. The Adventure Center was cheaper at £6 per child, so did that instead. Staying on the site is good as you are easily able to get off and explore the places near by. Hope that helps!

Bluestone accommodation is very good.

We have stayed once , small cottage , nicely furnished .

Saundersfoot , Tenby , Amroth , all nearby , all lovely beaches .

Folly Farm is near as well , a lovely day out for small children . A lot undercover there .

doIlooklike, did you stay in a Ramsay lodge, one of the detached ones? Hard to tell from the photos how much privacy you'd get. Not that I'm planning nude sunbathing but we can be rather antisocial on holiday...

I don't remember the name of the cottage we stayed in , it was just DH and I for a Sunday night break .
Was a one bedroom cottage in a terrace .
Nice open plan kitchen , lounge and diner . Downstairs loo .
Patio doors to outside
Mezzanine type bedroom with lovely bathroom

Hmm antisocial? Not sure how well that would go down! What do you mean? We find it very convenient to stay on site.

Ha ha! I meant unsociable. Grin No plans to stalk around the place with a machete.

We like to have our own space when we're relaxing, peace and quiet etc. I've had another look at the site, and I think we'd be best going for a detached cabin, as not only do I really not want to be cheek by jowl with strangers, I'd worry about DD waking other people up.

I'd hate the idea of a package holiday where everyone is jammed in like sardines and you can't get away from other people's children, although of course I understand that the pool at Bluestones is likely to be busy.

We stayed in a Ramsey (upside down house), had a lovely view of the lake and saw no neighbours, but then it was Feb and sitting outside was not an option! Other friends of mine have been and we have all been pleased with the accommodation. The activities for children (mine did messy play) was reasonably priced at £6 and we went to a party which included food priced at £10. If we go again we would def stay on site.

Oh if i am right, the cottages are near the pubs/restaurants and are smaller I would rather a lodge and be less in the middle of it, having said that it wasn't too noisy when walking past in the evening.

I've done both. When we stayed it was in a cottage, in the village. It was terraced but I didn't feel looked over or anything, and it wasn't noisy.

We went for the day a few weeks ago, they do a deal on Sundays where you get a swim and 3 course carvery (which was lovely) for £17 for adults, £8 for children I think which seemed like a good deal. It's also cheaper if you book your swim online.

The adventure centre is great on a wet day, as is Folly Farm, although you get more out of that on a dry day.

I wouldn't stay again simply because we only live an hour away but if I didn't I would as there is so much to do onsite.

I've stayed in cottage and the semi-detached lodge. I prefer the cottage, its in the centre near the shops and bars. The lodge we had was up a steep hill.

The accommodation is lovely. But there's no private outdoor space. We love the pool, the kids could easily spend hours there every day.

I'm not sure I'd go back now as we have been 3 times. But it was quiet and safe when the kids were young.

Thanks for your views everyone. We could potentially go anywhere in the UK, are their other alternatives to Centre Parcs I wonder...

Bluestone is lovely and is in no way like a Barrett housing estate.

I personally would stay on site. the accommodation is very good and there's plenty to do, both on and off site.

Well done on Booking. We go every year and have a fab time. Bluestone always are doing some great offers to attract people to stay at the resort. heres a link to a good little site for bluestone deals - if im allowed to link to it!
