How far is Madame Tussauds from Paddington station??

Taking the dc there next week and wondered if it was a nice walk from Paddington, any landmarks on the way etc. or would you do public transport?
It would have to be bus, I don't do the tube unfortunately :-(
How long would you say a visit takes as would like to do a bit more with them but don't know what's nearby?
Also, have googled what restaurants are nearby and all that seems to come up are pricey ones I've never heard of. Any Spaghetti house (my fave!) or that type of eaterie nearby does anyone know?

They are about a mile and a half apart, and the walk isn't nice in my opinion. I'd get the bakerloo line to Baker Street.

Don't know about a Spaghetti House but there's a big Wetherspoons type place that is family friendly and there will be other places nearby.

Is not a long walk (under 20 mins) but not v pretty or interesting. Is straight down the main Road (marylebone road), so buses easy enough though. Used to be a pizza express opposite-ish, plus other ok places down baker street but I left London yonks ago so probably all changed.

You want the 27 or the 205 bus.

It's not a great route - lots of large, polluted main roads. Lovely parks near both though (Kensington Gardens / Hyde Park near Paddington and Regent's Park near Madame Tussaud's).

I think there's a Zizzi's in the new Paddington development.

Get a cab, the walk will expose you to lethal doses of exhaust fumes. Watch the meter though.

Any ideas of what else we could fill our day with as am guessing mt will take a couple of hours?

After MT you could walk / bus down Baker Street to Marble Arch and then either do Selfridges and shops on Oxford Street or (if there's a miracle weather-wise) a walk in Hyde Park. Oxford Street leads to Regent's Street (Hamleys) which leads to Piccadilly Circus and the heart of the West End (Leicester Square, Soho, Covent Garden - good for the market and street performers).

The Marylebone Road has some beautiful buildings on it though - once you get passed the A40!

I usually walk down Harcourt street or Homer Street, on to Crawford Street or York Street and walk to Baker Street that way - it's much prettier.

How old are your DC? You could walk round the corner from MT, into Regent's Park and through it into either London Zoo or Camden. If they're teens they'll enjoy it there, the Stables market is really cool and there are lots of places to eat. Shame it's not going to be warmer, Regent's Park is gorgeous in the spring.

Dc are 9 & 13. Not sure if there would be time for the Zoo as well as mt, we are catching the train around 6pm to go home. They would probably enjoy a mooch around the market though and lulivo looks nice on their website.
I know I always over think these things, dh says play it by ear but I like to have at least some idea of what we might end up doing.
