London in June without dh but with 2 children - tips and advice pls

The first being am I mad? :) they will be 6 and 4. We live aboard so will be landing early after a long haul flight.

We have a few days ( 3-4) in London and I am thinking about where to stay. We have one planned visit to do from victoria train station then I was thinking natural history musuem, hyde park, changing of the guards, bus ride on a double decker, a go on the underground,

Where would you suggest we looked at staying? Victoria or near Hyde park? It's expensive in and out of London so I might as well stay centrally and cut down travel time? What do you think? I would like a room with a small kitchenette for warming milk as well.

Any advice on what else to do or what to avoid?

stay in a cheap travelodge/premier travel inn type place and save your money to spend on days and meals out. its only somewhere to sleep so i would go as central as possible and get one family room. many of them do free breakfast for kids. if you want something with a kitchenette/suite then it is going to be mega and it isnt really worth it when you can warm milk up using a plug in bottle warmer with a bottle that you then tip into a cup. my kids enjoyed the bus tour at this age and the science museum had lots of hands on stuff to do too.

Boots sell plug in bottle warmers they are about the size of a large mug but thicker and rounder with a plug and setting.

London museum of transport in Covent Garden, the zoo, Green Park for a run around, the Launch Pad at the Science Museum, Hamleys and Harrods toy department. What about Hampstead Heath for a picnic? You could do the London Eye and the aquarium right next to it. The Tower of London. A river taxi trip? London dungeons ... So much to do! Look at daysoutwiththekids.co.uk (ending might be different but the first bit and google will get you there!) you'll have a great time!

We have booked an apartment on house trip, very close to Hyde park. Was £500 for 5 nights but is 2 bed for 6people so you would be able to get a 1 bed or studio if it's just you and kids.

This is what we are doing
Covent garden to see street performers, tower of London, science museum, natural history museum, Diana memorial park, golden Hynde, museum of childhood, London eye and london duck tour.
My kids are 6,4 and 2
